Our Troubled Economy

I always get my best ideas in the shower. And tonight I got a doozie!

I was thinking about how our system is set up. There has been so many things on our minds lately, I am wondering how many people give this issue a thought? It is never a good idea for the rich to take from the poor. And when I look in detail at our system and the way it works, it totally baffles my brain to wonder how it all got started.

For many years I was wondering if it was Wimpy from the Popeye cartoon... he was always wanting a hamburger and wanting to pay next Tuesday, or whenever it was. I always thought that was odd, even when I was a kid, I was under the impression if you don't have your money to pay... you don't get a hamburger. And I always felt like Wimpy needed to do without a few hamburgers anyway.

I have been thinking about the deal with my bed. Let me give you a little background here. I gave up my bed to my daughter when her baby's daddy moved his bed out. There was no way I was going to make one of my kids suffer. So I gave her my bed and I slept on the floor... a little over a month. Then I started looking for a great deal. I wanted a great bed for a great price. I watched the sale ads. Finally one day I saw a Sealy Posturpedic for $399.00... now anyone who knows anything about beds knows this is a great deal. I saved 70%! If I had just gone out wanting a bed, not looking for a deal, I would of paid, $1299.00. HAHAHA... a friend even called me a 'capitalist pig' when he found out I had bought a Sealy Posturpedic... He couldn't believe someone would pay those prices. And when I told him how much I saved... he said, "Oh well that makes you a bargain hunter!" So I won back my respect from him. I would never just go out and be frivolous. I had found me a winner deal!

When I went in to do the paper work, I didn't know how I was going to pay... not that I would have a problem, but I didn't know the details and could of written a check or used a credit card. BUT!!!!... I applied for the 16 month no interest deal... and of course, I got it. So now I am going to split the payments by the month and only have to pay $40.00 a month for 15 months and even less on that last payment! I am very lucky and I am grateful to be able to have a bed that is so great!

But when you think about these details... I don't even have to make a payment for the whole 16 months. That is according to the paperwork. No payments are due until after the 16 months. Now... some people don't know this.. there was a time I didn't, but I found out if you don't make those payments, if you DO sleep on the bed for FREE for that time, you have to pay all the interest on all the money for all the back time that you didn't pay. Now this is almost to hard for my brain to handle. How can this be so blatantly thrown in people faces?

Now, I consider myself pretty smart. I did one of those IQ tests and scored a 123. But, what about the people who are not smart enough to know or understand these conditions until it is to late for them. And the whole payment thing blows up in their faces... and if they don't come across with all that money... and all the extra money... they will be sued for it. And if they cant possibly pay, they file bankruptcy and the credit companies just file it under losses... and there you have the reason for all of our economic problems. These rich corporations... these rich business's have come up with the perfectly legal scam of all time. They are prying money out of the poor peoples pockets before they can even get it. The stress of this can be fatal.

I do so miss the times when people were not all about monetary gain. People had a heart and cared if some others were suffering, but no more. They don't care that you cant afford it. The millions of foreclosures of homes that all the twisted paperwork has caused. All the grief. I have to say, there is nothing good that comes from wealthy people scamming money from poor people.

With the election coming up so many people are arguing about what is best for the people. Put the money back in the hands of the people they cry... but when they do... they just get them locked into some legal contract. Put the money back into the hands of the people so that they can just give it right back to the rich? And then some...

This is the way I see it... the more money you have, the more people make plans to get your money. Fees, fines... whatever they can tack on.

Will someone EVER create a way... where we are not victims here?
